Overview:
One-day virtual learning for healthcare professionals to conduct safe, evidence-based ADHD diagnostic assessments across the lifespan. The day opens with an introduction and overview of the learning outcomes and baseline knowledge check, followed by five sections covering core neurodevelopmental knowledge; DSM-5 and ICD-11 criteria; assessment aids like Conners, DIVA-5, Young DIVA, and QbCheck; test consent; capacity; and safeguarding. Learning then progresses to structured clinical simulation role-play, with practice in ADHD assessment competencies and safe report writing. The day concludes with a final section on framework, next steps, and close.
What can I expect to learn?
The focus is on the safety and quality of ADHD clinical assessments. It aims to develop knowledge, clinical skills, and NICE-aligned ADHD assessment competencies across the lifespan. Delegates will build an understanding of ADHD assessment foundations and structured clinical assessments, apply diagnostic reasoning in clinical practice, and produce clear written diagnostic reports with care plans and appropriate recommendations. It provides clarity on how to practise safely within the scope of practice, under appropriate guidance, supervision, and governance structures, while maintaining professional standards.

Dr M A Faridi
MBBS, FRCPsych, PGCert Medical Education, Certification in Lifestyle Medicine (in progress)
Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 20 years of NHS experience and specialist expertise in ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, is included on the GMC Specialist Register, and has received two Clinical Excellence Awards in recognition of his clinical contribution.
With extensive experience in ADHD assessments, diagnosis and management, he has particular expertise in diagnostic formulation, treatment planning, medication initiation and optimisation, and evidence-based non-pharmacological interventions.
As a medical educator, GMC-approved trainer and experienced Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP), he has trained and supervised doctors, nurses, pharmacists and healthcare professionals in ADHD assessments and management, including safe prescribing. His educational experience includes roles as a clinical and educational supervisor, MRCPsych teacher, CASC examiner and GP trainer.
His teaching combines clinical expertise, practical skills and evidence-based guidance to help healthcare professionals develop confidence and competence in ADHD assessment and management.
